Who does not love some hot and crispy, and homemade potato chips? Well here is a 10-minute recipe and you will get the crispiest chips. The best part about this recipe is how simple and quick these potato chops are. Although I should mention in the starting itself that you would need a mandoline. Although it is widely available in every household since it comes combined with the grater. Even if you have a box grated one of the sides will definitely have a slicer and would make the process quick and easy.

In a lot of recipes, you might have seen people using corn starch or air drying them or whatnot. But for these homemade potato chips, you literally have to slice them thinly and deep fry in the oil. Make sure you obtain the right temperature for the oil otherwise you will end up burning them or they won’t be crispy enough.

The Potatoes

Don’t at all worry about the size or the shape of the potato. Even the type of potato doesn’t matter that much until and unless your potatoes aren’t too watery or too old. Wash them nicely and make sure there is no dirt at all because we aren’t going to feel them. So please wash them PROPERLY. Also since we are making some homemade potato chips and peeling takes a lot of patience and time. Don’t worry! the skin won’t affect your chips at all.

The Seasoning for quick Potato Chips

The seasoning for the potatoes is all you need for this homemade potato chips. Yes, these are that simple and homemade potato chips! You can play around with your seasoning and trust me you can ad anything until and unless it is a liquid because it might end up making your chips soggy. I generally add some black pepper powder, garlic powder, and salt. You feel free to add things like onion powder, chat masala, chilli powder, etc. And please don’t forget salt and be careful with it, don’t add too much.

The Dips for quick Potato Chips

I love my Crispy Potato Chips with some ketchup or mayonnaise. Although they are not necessary at all since your chips are just amazing with seasoning only. You can go with chilli sauce if you like it spicy, aioli if you are looking for something fancy, and chimichurri if you want some freshness.

Ingredients

For Chips

  • 2 large potatoes

For the spice mix

  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder or chilli powder
  • Salt as you require

Toppings or Dips (optional)

  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup

Instructions

  1. So before we start with the procedure I should let you know that for this recipe we need special equipment called mandoline. Generally, it is found in every household kitchen. 
  2. It is basically a slicer in which you will slice your potatoes.
  3. Now for the chips start with washing your potatoes very nicely because we are not going to peel them.
  4. Then slice your potatoes in a mandoline.
  5. Now heat some oil to fry them. Preferably vegetable oil or canola oil works very well
  6. Then fry them for a minute and a half and they should be golden brown in colour.
  7. Take the chips out from the oil and keep them on a kitchen towel so that it soaks all the excess oil.
  8. Then for the spice mix, mix chat masala, chilli powder, and salt.
  9. Sprinkle that spice mix while your potato chips are hot and toss them properly.
  10. Serve with some mayonnaise or ketchup.

Notes

  • Always make sure that your oil is not too hot otherwise you will end up burning your chips.
  • You can have a lot of different spices to the spice mix according to your own taste.
  • Toppings and Dips are totally optional according to your preference.
